ABOUT ICON

International Circle of Online Noranians

The International Circle of Online Noranians (ICON) is a sister Nora Aunor fan club of GANAP or Grand Alliance for Nora Aunor Philippines (with different chapters all over the country) and the Federation of Nora Aunor Followers (umbrella organization of all Nora Aunor fans clubs organized since 1967). It’s a different composition however as its members obviously are all computer-literate and mostly young professionals. The group was born on September 20, 2000 when Leonel Escota, a Noranian based in New York, created an online discussion group at Yahoo to serve as a venue to discuss the artistry of Nora Aunor and relive Noramania.

ICON was incorporated as an organization in Texas, USA with Leonel as its president. It was later on incorporated in the Philippines in 2006. From a membership of eleven on its initial year, ICON has grown with more than seven hundred members from all over the world. At present, ICON is divided into four chapters namely USA, Asia-Pacific (Philippines, Japan, Australia), Middle East and Canada and it is current headed by Dr. Dennis Ang of Indianapolis, USA.

As an organization, ICON seeks the to establish an on line forum that encourages appreciation of Miss Nora Aunor’s body of work among the general public through discussions, documentation, awareness, and collaboration with other relevant and interested parties in preserving her artistic contribution to the Philippine movie industry and to continue to support her continued success.
